Денежная единица стран еврозоны. Название утверждено Европейским Советом в Мадриде в декабре 1995 г. Валюта введена в безналичные расчёты с 1 января 1999 г. как единая для первых 11 стран ЕС, а в наличный оборот с 1 января 2002 г.
